Climate Action

At Saambhavi, we are committed to making a positive impact on our environment through one of our key practices - tree plantation. Since our establishment in 2006, we have been sowing the seeds of change by planting trees to enhance our surroundings. However, as time progressed, we came to a profound realization of the urgent need and significant impact of our efforts. We yearned to become a catalyst for the transformation that our planet so desperately requires.

Introduction

The consequences of deforestation are well-known, and the desire to act burns within us all. But the question remains - where do we begin? How do we contribute meaningfully? This is where Saambhavi steps in, offering you an opportunity to join hands and be a part of something greater than yourself. Together, we can combat global warming and foster a sustainable future.

In 2016, we officially launched our ambitious afforestation project, seamlessly integrating it into our regular endeavors. Since then, we have been relentless in our pursuit, planting a remarkable 16,134 trees across various states in North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Our efforts are not only motivated by the numbers but by our commitment to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Pollution

Saambhavi addresses air, water, and soil pollution through awareness campaigns, advocacy, and practical solutions. We work with student volunteers to run awareness camps and engage communities in tackling these challenges. Air pollution, stemming from vehicle emissions and industrial activities, harms respiratory health and worsens climate change. We advocate for emissions reduction and air quality improvement. Water pollution, caused by industrial discharge and improper waste disposal, threatens aquatic ecosystems and human health. Saambhavi promotes sustainable water management practices like wastewater treatment and rainwater harvesting. Soil pollution, from hazardous waste disposal and chemical use, degrades soil quality and agricultural productivity. We advocate for soil conservation measures such as organic farming and remediation techniques. Through collaborative efforts with governments, communities, and stakeholders, Saambhavi seeks to promote sustainable practices that safeguard the environment and human well-being, ensuring a cleaner, healthier future for all.

In collaboration with Maitrey Foundation, Saambhavi mobilizes residents from 20 colonies to participate. Together, we've partnered with the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation to launch a specialized van collection system. This initiative focuses on gathering single-use plastics to combat plastic pollution effectively. The van operates across various areas of Ghaziabad, collecting plastic waste to prevent littering and blockages in drains. Saambhavi and Maitrey Foundation's joint efforts underscore our commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.

Waste Management

Saambhavi underscores the importance of waste segregation, a crucial aspect of efficient waste management. Through comprehensive awareness campaigns and educational programs, we enlighten communities about the significance of waste segregation. Our initiatives focus on educating individuals about separating recyclable materials from non-recyclable waste at the source. By encouraging waste segregation, we aim to reduce landfill usage and alleviate the strain on waste management systems. This practice also contributes to resource conservation by facilitating the recycling of materials that would otherwise be discarded. Saambhavi's efforts in waste segregation awareness play a pivotal role in fostering a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society. We actively engage local people and student interns, working closely with our staff, to ensure effective implementation of waste segregation initiatives.
