The Start

Our Story

Since my childhood, I've always looked up to my grandmother's sister. Despite facing multiple disabilities, including the effects of polio on one of her legs, speech and hearing impairments, she embodied resilience and strength. Despite being labelled as mentally challenged, she achieved remarkable feats, such as being the only girl in her district to pass the 8th grade in 1947 and mastering the art of cutting and tailoring.

Her body, bent due to polio, bore witness to the hardships she endured. Yet, she remained resilient, though her circumstances remained dire. Her children's mistreatment continued until we intervened, helping her access government old-age and handicapped pension schemes. Additionally, we included her in our donation schemes, offering financial support until she received the pension.

Witnessing her struggles and the neglect she faced inspired me to take action. I gathered like-minded individuals who shared my passion to start an organization dedicated to improving the lives of challenged people. Together, we resolved to provide them with happier lives and open opportunities through initiatives offering treatment, education, skill training, financial support, and employment opportunities. In doing so, we honour my grandmother's sister's resilience and strive to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

Our Mission

Our Work

Blanket Donation

The severe climatic challenges that grip our surroundings during the winters often go unnoticed by many. Tragic reports of lost lives due to the unforgiving winters make their way onto the pages of newspapers year after year. Despite the passage of time, the situation remains unaltered in many regions. For those less fortunate, the winter season ushers in a host of hardships, with homelessness adding a new layer of difficulty. A blanket's warmth might come at the cost of a skipped meal, and families hit by the pandemic's economic fallout find it increasingly challenging to maintain adequate housing and warmth.

Rehabilitation

Saambhavi Rehabilitation Centre in New Delhi, operating for 17 years, excels in providing free rehabilitation services for physical and mental ailments. The center offers occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and special education, boasting a well-equipped facility. Noteworthy accomplishments in 2022-23 include organizing beauty culture camps, orthopedic medical camps, blanket distribution, yoga sessions, and tree planting initiatives. Additionally, online skill training benefits challenged individuals. The center, committed to holistic rehabilitation, sponsored 26 expensive surgeries for economically disadvantaged individuals, reflecting its dedication to comprehensive community support.

Climate Action

In 2016, we officially launched our ambitious afforestation project, seamlessly integrating it into our regular endeavors. Since then, we have been relentless in our pursuit, planting a remarkable 16,134 trees across various states in North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Our efforts are not only motivated by the numbers but by our commitment to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. However, our journey has just begun, and the path ahead is adorned with countless opportunities for positive change

Education

Educational sponsorship has been a cornerstone of our mission to empower and uplift our community. While we may not always be able to reach every child, we remain committed to supporting those with genuine needs, especially meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Over the years, we've extended our support to these deserving students by sponsoring their education at various levels, even if they faced challenges. This includes not only primary and secondary education but also higher education and vocational training.
